What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a therapeutic approach that combines artistic expression with psychological support from a fully trained and registered art therapist to facilitate emotional healing and personal growth. It helps individuals explore feelings, reduce stress, and improve mental well-being through creative activities and artistic exploration.

The best part about art therapy is that zero art skill is needed to benefit from it! Art therapy is about the process of expressing yourself visually rather than making a technically accurate final product. Megan will assist as needed to help you successfully explore symptoms, topics, and needs through creative expression.

What Should I Expect in Sessions?
During your sessions, you can expect a supportive environment where your concerns are listened to attentively. Both talk and art therapy can involve guided discussions, creative activities, and personal reflections aimed at fostering your mental well-being and overall healing.

Usually sessions start with a verbal check-in to identify current symptoms and needs. Then, you will be invited to explore your thoughts and feelings visually through artmaking. Last, Megan will guide you in exploring your creative choices to help you find personal meaning and foster growth.
Where are you located?
New Leaf Creative Counseling is located on the 3rd floor of the Warren Building at 121 W. Marlin St.. Suite 301, in downtown Mcpherson, KS.
What do you specialize in, what ages do you see, and what insurances do you take?
Megan specializes in complex trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and women's issues (life transitions, parenting, pre- and post-natal issues, low self-esteem, body image, etc).
Megan works with kids, teens, and adults ages 10+.

Current in-network insurances: BCBS, Aetna, Medicaid (Sunflower, Healthy Blue, and United), Ambetter, and Allwell Medicare. If you don't see your insurance listed, I am willing to discuss becoming in-network, or I take cash pay and HSA.
